Danube Delta Map

Here you can find a very good map of Danube Delta. In order to offer a better vizualisation of this map we split iti in 4 sections. Every section is posted at hi resolution, please click on the picture (twice) for opening at maximum size.

1. Danube Delta Map – the NV zone

It’s including:

Pardina – Stipoc area, now dried, we hope that in the future, by the ecological reconstruction programs of the Danube Delta, will see this area flooded again.

Contain the villages: Tatanir and Pardina on Chilia Branch.
Tulcea – Mila 23 area, one of the most used area fot turistic activities, many lakes, channels and villages like: Partizani, Ilganii de sus, Maliuc, Vulturu, Gorgova, Mila 23 on Sulina Branch.
Tulcea – Mahmudia area – this area have car acces, on the road Tulcea – Dunavat. Contain villages Malcoci, Nufaru, Victoria, Baltenii de sus, Bestepe and Mahmudia on Sfantu Gheorghe Brach.

2. Danube Delta Map – NE area

Campul Chiliei – Musura area, with villages Chilia Veche and Periprava.
Crisan – Sulina area, with villages Crisan and Sulina.

Here we can find Campul Chiliei, or Grindul Chiliei, which, together with Grindul Stipoc are continental levees, remains of the pre Delta continent. Also, here is Letea Levee, probably the most well known of the Danube Delta levee, this levee is fluvio-maritime origin and is the live ma of Danube Delta development and also an unique natural reserve. Alternate the dunes of fine sand and clusters of oak forests (hasmacuri) offers an amazing view.

Chilia Branch represents Romanian border with Ukraine.

3. Map of the Danube Delta, the SV area

Razim Zone – Sinoe it’s an area with a rich history. Here we find the most prosperous fortresses of old Danube Delta and the most agitated events of the time.

Cities in this area are: Murighiol, Dunavatu de Sus, Dunavatu de Jos, Sarinasuf, Iazurile, Agighiol, Sabangia, Sarichioi, Enisala (where is also the Enisala fortress), Babadag, Jurilovca, Visina, Lunca, Ceamurlia de Jos and other points of interest as La Bisericuta, Gura Portitei, Casla Perisor, La Indicator, Periteasca.

On the lake Razim is Popina Island, aqua natural reserve of great importance and near the village Murighiol is Saraturi Murighiol reserve.

4. Map of the Danube Delta, the SE zone

Rosu – Sfantu Gheorghe area, or Sfantu Gheorghe branch area. Here we can find Caraorman and Sfantu Gheorghe villages.

Caraorman village is located on the levee with the same name, where is also the reserve forest Caraorman and its a continuation of Letea Levee, with a similar look.

Near Sfantu Gheorghe village is another location mandatory to see: Sakhalin Island (or Sacalin). Is the place where the Danube filed alluvia and continue to build the Delta, from one year to another can be seen meters of offshore appeared in this place which is an important feeding place for many species of birds.
